  • Dusty - Adopted December 2009

Dusty was adopted by Michelle, Ashley, and Brett

I am the luckiest Westie - I was adopted by Michelle, Ashley, and Brett.  I have a Westie brother Linc who was adopted from WROC also.  This family really knows about us Westies and I am going to have the best life.  They say that I am a wonderful addition to the family and I feel like it is really true!!!  Westie Kisses with so much happiness, Dusty

DUSTY'S ORIGINAL STORY:  My name is Dusty and I am incredibly cool.  You see, my previous owner rescued me 5 years ago, but could not keep me any more.  My foster Mom says that I am everything wonderful and I tend to believe her!  I am game for anything!  I love to play with dogs, children, and toys.  I love to socialize at the dog park, especially like walks around the neighborhood, and love to toss around toys.  I chase after balls and bring them back...well, sometimes.  I listen very well and will mumble secrets in your ear.  I am active, calm and cuddly and my favorite spot is in my person's lap.  If you kiss me, I will kiss you back!

    Scout & Skipper - Adopted December 2009

    Scout & Skipper - Adopted December 2009
Hi everyone, look at our beautiful new family!  Mom & Dad, Victoria and Robert,  Brother Hunter, and Sister MacKenzie.  WROC really did it this time - we are so happy with our new forever family.  They welcomed us with open arms and we covered them in kisses.   Thank you WROC for finding such a perfect match!  XOXO  Scout & Skipper

SCOUT & SKIPPER'S ORIGINAL STORY:  Our names are Scout & Skipper.  We are bonded pair of Westies and our owners are moving out of California to a place where they cannot take us.  They are very sad, but are entrusting Westie Rescue of Orange County to find us a great new home.

We are a very sweet and loving pair, 6 and 4 years old, neutered and spayed, and we have all of our shots.  We love to chase around in the back yard after each other and critters.  We love long walks and rides in the cars and of course, we are housetrained.  We are just about the most perfect Westies that you could meet!!  XOXO Scout & Skipper

Bradley - 9 year old male - Adopted December 2009

Bradley - Adopted December 2009 by Kendall
ANOTHER SPECIAL SENIOR FINDS HIS FOREVER HOME!

Hi eveyone, WROC has really out done themselves this time.  They found me the perfect home with Kendall.  My new Dad recognizes me for the wonderful Westie that I am and we have a great time together.  He takes me on short walks and gives me lots of treats - I really like that part.  I love my new home.  Thank you WROC for giving this second chance at a great new life.  Much love and many kisses, Bradley

Bradley - 9 year old maleBRADLEY'S ORIGINAL STORY:  My name is Bradley and I was just rescued from a very high kill shelter.  When the shelter called WROC, they said the reason my owner surrendered me to them is because I've aged and they didn't have time for an old dog.  WROC couldn't stand the thought of me being there so they dropped everything and came for me.   Turns out the shelter vet thought I was about 8-9 years old - not old at all!!!

NOTE FROM WROC:  Bradley has been through a lot while under our care.  He has recovered from a bladder infection, from surgery to remove a fatty growth from his leg and from anethesia teeth cleaning.  Throughout all of his ordeals, he remains sweet and grateful for the care.  He is a gentle dog who likes short walks and riding in the doggie carriage.  He loves to sleep at the foot of the bed and is quiet all night long.  He loves to lay in the sun, having his ears rubbed, and best of all breakfast & dinner!!

Chrissy - Adopted December 2009 by Brenda & Jeff

    Chrissy Adopted December 2009
CHRISSY, ANOTHER CHRISTMAS MIRACLE DOG FOR WROC!

Thank you WROC for making my Christmas dream come true.  I was adopted by the most wonderful family, Brenda & Jeff.  I now live in a beautiful coastal town in California.  We take long walks and I am very pampered.  Nothing could be better for me.  I am grateful for this second chance.  It truly is "A Wonderful Life!"  Much love and Westie Kisses, Chrissy

CHRISSY'S ORIGINAL STORY:  I was found wandering the streets and was picked up by the dog catcher.  But I was microchipped and the shelter found my owner.  I just knew they would come for me, but they never did.  I was so scared in the shelter that I growled when anyone came near me.  They said I was unadoptable and my end was near...

Then my Christmas angel showed up.  I ran from the back of my cage and flung my little body at the bars, licking her hands and eating those delicious treats she brought.  She took me out, hugged me and I kissed her back, and then she took me home.

I am about 3 years old and I get along really well with my foster brothers.  My foster Mom says I am a happy, calm, and fun little girl.  I walk great on a leash, love riding in the car, and am housetrained.  I loved my first bath and as you can see, it made all the difference in world.  I have all my shots and am spayed. Will you help my Christmas wish come true?  Love, Chrissy, the Christmas Miracle Dog

    Dundee & McDougal - Adopted December 2009

    Dundee & McDougal - Adopted December 2009
When WROC heard about the need for Westies at a nursing home in Georgia, we knew we had to step in.  "Mama" had a coveted stuffed Westie in her room.  A senior resident, who is known for taking things, wandered in and Mama’s Westie was the target of her latest heist. Mama wrestled her beloved stuffed Westie away from the thief, but the thief was clearly distraught.  We understand the love of the breed and felt that Mama’s friend should have a Westie of her own.  Though we do not ship our dogs, we made an exception in this case. Meet our latest adoption; Dundee a 2oz six month old puppy and his pal McDougal, a 4oz 1 year old Westie that arrived safely at the Georgia nursing home where they will be loved forever!

Herbie and Sammy - Adopted November 2009

    Herbie & Sammy - Adopted December 2009
Hi everyone, Sammy and I were adopted by Isabel & John.  They drove all the way from Arizona because they thought we were so special.  And let me tell you, they are the best family we could hope for.  Mom writes:  "They are the best boys!!  We just love them to pieces and they really love each other.  We have settled into a good routine, spending lots of time walking and playing...watching them play together is a feast for the eyes."  Thank you WROC from the bottom of our Westie hearts, Herbie & Sammy

HERBIE'S ORIGINAL STORY:  Hi there, my name is Herbie and I am a 6 year old male.  My owners could not keep me anymore, so the called Westie Rescue of Orange County because they heard of their stellar reputation in California rescue.  I am a very sweet and playful boy and I have had my beauty makeover - I am gorgeous, don't you think?  I love long walks in the park, fetching my ball, riding in the car, and sitting beside you on the couch.  And I love that Westie Diet - especially the Highlander Hash!  I really like all the other Westies here and if possible, I would like a brother or sister Westie of my own.  I like being around people, so a stay at home Mom or Dad would be great for me.  I will make a wonderful family pet - do you think that is you?  If so, send in that application and I will be happily waiting for you.  Lots of Westie Love, Herbie

SAMMY'S ORIGINAL STORY:  What a day!  It started out so confusing when my family of 5 years dropped me off at the shelter for no good reason.  It was very stressful there and I was sad, scared and lonely.  The next day, a lovely woman who visits the local shelter on her lunch breaks to sneak treats to us jailed pups, just about fell over when she saw beautiful “me”!  See, she has Westies too, so she sprung me out of the California pokey and called Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond.

I had a beauty makeover by that famous Westie groomer, Joy, so I am GORGEOUS now.  I am a very sweet and gentle natured 18 lb boy that has been neutered, current on all my shots and I am waiting for you!  Please don’t wait too long to get that application in because my very own home with a family that will love me forever would be my dream come true. XOXO  Sammy

Murphy, now Geordie, Adopted November 2009
Murphy, now Geordie - Adopted November 2009
Hi there, I have a new name, Geordie and a new sister Millie and a wonderful new Mom, Joan.  I love my new family and they absolutely adore me.  Mom's business makes dog cookies & she promises to name one after me.  I even have my own web page, http://www.bone-appi-treat.com/geordiepage.htm.  Can you believe it - I am famous!!!  After all I have been through, I am now the happiest Westie you could ever know.  Thank you WROC for my new life.  I am one lucky Westie!!!  XOXOXO  Geordie

MURPHY'S ORIGINAL STORY:  My name is Murphy and I am a very active boy.  I had my vet checkup and he revised my age to 1 year old.  I am 18 lbs, current on my shots and I am neutered.  I came to Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond in the hopes of finding my forever home in California.   First, a little about me...I am a fun boy.   I love people and dogs and I am learning how to play.  Toys are new to me, but the resident Westies here seem to be obsessed with them.  I paw at them but they don't paw back, so I think they may be dead. I give great kisses and I love to have my ears scratched.  That would definitely be a requisite of my new family, please.   I love carrots and I am on a great new Westie Diet with Highlander Hash on top.   I have lots of energy so my new family needs to have lots of energy too.  Are you the family for me?  Love Murphy

GRACIE'S ORIGINAL STORY:  I am a 3-year old (DOB 6/3/06), 16 lb female that is looking for my new forever home.  See, my folks loved me very much, but couldn't keep me any longer so they brought me to Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond.  I like it here because there are Westies to play with and lots of toys!  It's a bit of a problem when my foster mom is vacumming because she tosses toys out of the way as she moves from room to room.  We think its a game!  Here, I get two meals a day; the Westie Diet with Highlander Hash on top.  I am a beautiful and very smart little girl.  Are you my forever home?  Get that application in because a beauty queen like me will not be on the stage for long.  Westie Wishes,  Gracie

Another senior finds a wonderful home!!
Charlie was adopted by Sally & Richard who absolutely adore him.  They waited patiently while WROC restored Charlie's health and then they drove a long way just to take this adorable boy home.

Note from Charlie:  Thank you WROC and especially my foster Mom Terri.  You brought me back from despair & now I have a happily ever after family.  XOXOXO  Charlie

    CHARLIE'S INCREDIBLE TRANSFORMATION

CHARLIE'S ORIGINAL STORY:  Look how much better I look!!  Amazing what TLC and a healthy diet can do for a boy!!  I still have a way to go, but I have even lost about 2 pounds.  My foster Mom says that I am a wonderful companion.  I love my walks and hanging out with people.  She says that I am an extraordinary Westie - to have been through so much and to have such a happy-go-lucky disposition.

When the paramedics received a call from an elderly woman that had a bad fall, they contacted us to assist with the rescue.  When we saw him, we thought we were looking at a pile of dirty rugs, until the pile moved.  Charlie, a 10 year old, 22 pound Westie has lived the last 6 years of his life eating table scraps and had not seen a vet in years.  As you can see from his pictures, this poor little guy was left to his own devices.  We swept him out of there immediately, and began the tedious task of cutting out his dreadlocks, and shaving him completely down.  Charlie did not move a muscle throughout this ordeal.  WROC immediately sought vet care where he received a complete examination including dental work.  Charlie has adjusted to his new diest and is feeling good.

SARAH'S ORIGINAL STORY:  Hi there, my name is Sarah and I am a very active 1 year old little girl.  I love to play, play, play.  I am working on my house training in my foster home with all these other Westies - love them too!  My previous owner just could not keep up with me, so she called Westie Rescue of Orange County because she trusted them to find a great home for me.   I am spayed and have all my shots.  I have to take a powder with my food to keep my digestive system in order, but it does not slow me down.  If you think you might have room in your home and heart for a little girl like me, send in that application.  I will be waiting for my perfect family.  XOXO  Sarah

    MacTavish, Adopted October 2009

    Mactavish - Adopted October 2009
I just landed in a great WROC home and am so happy they brought me here.  I came to my foster mom’s house matted, flea & tick ridden and my feet did not even have a chance to hit the floor because the tub was waiting for me.  Looks like this is the first time I have ever been bathed, and I received a badly needed shave, but no worries here because my hair will grow back in no time.  I am so much more comfortable especially in this California weather!

I LOVE to ride in the car!  I like to sit at my foster mom’s feet, but I truly do prefer to sit in her lap. I give great kisses and I love to have my belly rubbed.  I am adapting wonderfully on WROC’s Westie Diet and I have toys for the very first time.  All is good here with the resident Westies!  I have boys and girls to play with, a huge park to run around in and a soft bed to sleep on.  No more outdoor living for me!!  I am incredibly handsome and a very good boy, so get that application in!  Westie Love & Hugs, MacTavish

  • Penny - Adopted July 2009

Penny - Adopted by Ann & Larry July 2009Hi, its me Penny and I have a good feeling about my new home.  It took me a while to feel comfortable, but I finally settled down and feel pretty relaxed here.  I love my new Mom Ann & Dad Larry. My new sister, Roxy, is very mellow and we get along really well.  I like to sleep next to Roxy on the sofa and bed.
I had a really good time at this place they called the dog park!!! I made friends and we all sniffed each other and I ran around a lot.  I went there several times and I was even more tired than after my walks!  Mostly, I take it easy and linger in the kitchen whenever food is made. I'm always ready for a treat!
It's been nice to be out of the  crate and the pen that I had to stay in at first.   I am so happy, that I follow my Mom and Dad around the house wherever they go.  Sometimes, I just can't stop wagging my tail. My Mom gives me lots of relaxing massages, and that seems to calm me down.  I am so happy to have a home that I can relax in.  I want to thank you for saving my life and taking good care of me until I came here.   I guess I am one pretty lucky pup!!! Lots of Love....

Note from WROC:  Ann and Larry are very special people and we are so happy to know them.  They wanted to rescue an older dog and they opened their home and their hearts to our Penny.

Penny is Amazing!PENNY'S ORIGINAL STORY:  Penny was surrendered to the shelter by her owner because she would get "out" when the owner's grandchildren would come to visit.  A situation that could have been easily remedied, but instead the owner chose a different route.  Perhaps the easy way out, but nevertheless, abandoning seniors because they are old and evidently too much trouble is a sad reality that we see all the time.  The plight that seniors face when abandoned in the cold confines of a dog pound or adrift city streets, so many times ignored, and unadopted are left to die.   When our beloved seniors are abandoned, we don’t think of them as old, crippled, or too much trouble.  We believe that every dog has a “life well worth living” and deserves to sleep in a warm soft bed, know love and compassion which is the right of every animal and in return, we get a lifelong lesson from each one of them.  The joy that they bring us is immeasurable.

Penny had her teeth cleaned today, and the vet stated that Penny is not 13 years old as the shelter estimated.  Penny's age has been revised between 9-10 years old.  We concur, as Penny acts very much like a younger dog.  Penny has a lot of love to give.  It was obvious that she wasn’t cared for very well and was riddled with fleas.   This once frightened and confused little girl gets along great with her three foster siblings and has become her foster mom’s little shadow.  She loves to take naps on the back of the sofa and has no problem jumping up to her favorite spot.  She does great on a leash and loves to go for walks.  She weighs 15 pounds, and though she exhibits some hearing loss, that hasn’t stopped her from reveling in her new environment that makes her feel secure and loved.
Will you open your heart and home to this beautiful sweet girl?  Penny wants nothing more but the chance to enjoy the rest of her life in a home where she will be loved.

  • Louie, now MacDuff - Adopted July 2009

MacDuff was adopted by Marianne & Bruce July 2009Louie, now MacDuff was adopted by experienced Westie owner's Bruce & Marianne, who write:
"MacDuff is right at home already, he knows where the kitty hides in the yard, loves to chase the birds off of their feeding station and is going out to potty whenever he needs to.  He is already responding to Louis & his ballBruce's firm voice and handling during his walks.  He's got several places throughout the house where he stashes his toys for later playtime!
He is the best boy and responds to our whistles already and comes running from wherever he is in the yard.  We're both so in love with him already, that it's hard to realize it's only been a day!  Don't want to be known as the parents who went on and on and on about their perfect pet, so thank you again so much for helping us find our forever Westie!"
LOUIE'S PREVIOUS STORY: Well, here I am...in great hands with Westie Rescue of Orange County & B Beyond.  I am a beautiful, healthy 20 pound male, born 3/28/07  that was relinquished by my owner.  It made me very sad, but my  WROC angel must have been looking after me because my foster mom rushed over and picked me right up.
I like to nuzzle my nose under your arm and I love to have my ears scratched!  What Westie doesn't?  I have met many Westies and other dogs today, and I fit right in.  There are lots of toys everywhere and so many things to do here.  We go for walks every morning and we romp at the dog park in the late afternoon.  I am newly neutered, house trained, micro chipped and current on all my vaccinations.  I am a sweet boy and will do best with a terrier knowledgeable and active family that will take me for long walks, play with me and give me the attention I so deserve.   Are you my forever home?  Louie

ZOEY'S ORIGINAL STORY:  My name is Zoey, and I am Zoey - 3 year old femalelooking for my forever home.  See, my family is having a baby and evidently I do not fit into that equation.  I am a sweetheart and my foster family promised me that these great people at WROC will find me a permanent home and I will never worry about things like that again!
I am 3 years old, spayed, microchipped and have all my shots.  I am housetrained and I know my basic commands too!   I never had toys before I came to WROC but now I get to play with tons of them!  A girl can't have too many toys you know!  They can be found in every room here!!!  I love to play with everybody, and the resident Westies here welcomed me with open paws.  I am so grateful my life is turning around and I will happily wait here for you, but don't wait too long because I am really cute.  XOXO  Zoey

Wesley's Original Story:  Wow look at me now!  My coat has grown in and I am one fabulous looking Westie.  WROC finally got my paperwork and my revised age is 7.  I love my new look and am spunky as I can be.  I KNOW I look good.  Are you looking for a beauty like me?

Hi my name is Wesley and I am an 7 year old male Westie that knew of no other life but living outdoors exclusively.  I am brand new to WROC, so they will need time to evaluate me.   But what they know for sure, is that I am a very sweet and lovable Westie.  My foster mom tells me that I am very special too.  She said that many people have helped me so far - Bob with my vet care, Dr. Brad made a special home visit just for me, and Joy with a head and tail trim - love that carrot tail!!!  Thank you all!  I am enjoying the good life with my new Westie brothers.  No more sleeping outdoors for me!  Stay tuned for my updates.  Grateful Westie Love,  Wesley

  • Chance - Adopted 4th of July

Chance adopted by Caroline, Doug & Jack on the 4th of JulyHi everyone, look at this great family that WROC found for me, Mom Caroline, Dad Doug, my very own human brother Jack, and a Westie sister Sadie.  Could it get any better?  I am one happy Westie!!  Sending big kisses, Chance

    Note from Mom Caroline:
About 2 years ago Jack said, "Mom I want a little brother and Chance after visiting Mr. PetI want to name him  Chance."  At the time I knew he had a friend in his class named Chance and just said sorry that is not going to happen. It is funny to look back at that and think about how things have a way of working out!  Thank you for this wonderful happy and healthy dog.

Chance's Original Story: Hi there, my new name is Chance because I am getting a second chance at a great life.  WROC was right there to save me from a high kill shelter.  I have a very happy disposition and I love to give kisses.  I get along with all the other Westies here in my foster home and I already know how to use the doggie door.  I am 1-2 years old, neutered, microchipped, with all my shots.  I love to play and would not mind having a brother or sister Westie.  I have had my makeover and I have to tell you, I am one gorgeous pup!  Are you the great family for me?  XOXO  Chance

  • Stewart, Adopted June 2009

Stewart 5 year old maleHi Everyone, My name is Stewey and I am a 22 lb, 3 year old altered male. I listen to commands and I really want to please. But sadly, I ended up at the shelter and no one came for me. My rescue angel brought me to WROC, and boy am I glad she did! Thank you Darlene! I got a bath which I enjoyed and I love to play with my foster brothers and resident Westies. My foster mom says that I am a clown! I love to play with dogs and people, I love to give kisses, will sit on your lap if you let me - which I really hope you do.

I really want a family of my own, so please get your
    application in soon! Love Stewey

  • Kaitlin, now Roxie, Adopted June 2009

Katlin 1-2 year old femaleHi Everyone, my new name is Roxie and I have been adopted by Darlene and my most favorite new human sister, Rose.  They are taking great care of me and I love my new life.  I can be challenging at times, but my family knows all about terriers and they are showing me the ropes.  Thank you WROC for saving me.  Love & Happy Westie Kisses, Roxie
Katlin's Original Story:  My name is Katlin. When WROC heard I was turned in to the shelter for the second time within a month they came to my rescue.  Now mind you, this was at no fault of my own.  See, I am a young 14 pound female, approximately 1-2 years old and I have a lot of energy because that's what Westies are...full of spunk, energy and personality!   My previous families were not terrier knowledgeable.  My first owners thought they were allergic to me, and my second owners did not have enough time for me and thought my playfulness too much to handle, but really all I needed was exercise and attention which I was not getting.  But that has all changed now since WROC is giving me the the chance to be the wonderful Westie that I am!  I still need to be spayed, but I have all my shots and I am microchipped.   My foster mom says I am a sweet girl, and I ride well in the car and my house manners are coming along nicely. Give WROC a little more time to show me the ropes, and then I will be ready for my forever home.  Will that home be with you?  Gratefully, Katie
