Wow, look at this great family that adopted me - Mom Karin, Dad Mike, and my best friend & sister Nicole. I am the happiest Westie boy you could ever meet! XOXO Tyler
TYLER'S ORGINAL STORY: My name is Tyler. I was rescued from a shelter where it was so hot & I was so matted and dirty, I could barely hold my head up. But the WROC volunteer recognized me for the wonderful sweet dog that I am. There was so much debris and matting in my hair, the only solution was to get rid of it all. Thank you Michelle & Julie at Happy Dog for donating my "buzz". And yipee, I turned into a different doggie. I am very playful and love to run, play, and jump. I love the other dogs here in my foster home, ride great in the car, walk well on a leash and am working on my house training.
I will soon be neutered, weigh 24 pounds, have all my shots, and am microchipped. I am dreaming of my own family - active, fun, and busy - with lots of time to play with me. I would not mind another doggie brother or sister, but no cats!!! Happily awaiting, Tyler
Hi WROC, our girl went to her first bluegrass festival over the weekend. She did fine, as expected. Her doggie cousin, Dieter (a schnauzer), was there too and they shared his outdoor pen so they could see the comings and goings of everyone. Molly loved meeting all the new people and dogs. She was a good traveler and a good sleeper except she’s a bed-hog sometimes…
She’s eating well, loves her walks, thinks Michael is her pack leader and listens to him better than to anybody else. Michael said obedience training for her is more a matter of negotiation than anything else. LOL. We’re learning her ways, and she ours. We’re seeing more and more of her personality. She plays with her toys and tosses them so violently that she twists and turns herself all over. When she’s done she’s a fluffy, wild-haired mess. So cute. We just laugh watching her antics. We are so enjoying having her in our family. Thank you WROC, Michael & Patty
MOLLY'S ORIGINAL STORY: I have a Westie angel looking after me. Making my way to WROC was a long journey indeed, but worth the wait. I am a small, 12 lb six year old female that spent my life in a garage until a nice
woman took me in temporarily until she could get me to WROC. Many people made my journey possible, and WROC spent an entire day on the road just for me. Now that makes me feel very special. Many thanks to Barry and Mandy for finding WROC!
I am settling in my foster home with other Westies to play with who will show me the ropes. I have a ways to go, as I still need to be spayed once my skin issues are taken care of first. I am getting the best vet care, medicated baths, medicine for my ears, and I am eating a special WROC Westie diet that was specifically tailored for my needs. It is already making me feel so much better! My foster mom says I am a love bug, and I am happy to sit on your lap for as long as you will let me. I am crate trained, but still need to learn a few house manners and I sleep soundly throughout the night. I have not been out in the big world, but each day I am coming into my own! I love playing at the dog park because it is so big and I have lots of room to run. I have 6 years of running to catch up on! This new life is so exciting, and there is so much to see. But what I long for the most is a permanent home to call my own with a family that will always make me feel like number one! Waiting patiently, Molly
I have been adopted by June & she is the most wonderful person! She dotes on me and recognizes me for the Westie princess that I am. Thank you WROC - life is very good. Love Lilly
Lilly's Original Story: Hi there, my name is Lilly. My owner had no time for me and I was left to my own devices, living outside in a pen. It was cold and lonely there and I was very scared. I am so much happier now that I am with WROC. I am a beautiful 8 year old, AKC female Westie, have all my shots and am recovering from spay surgery.
I am working on my housetraining - my foster Mom says that I am one smart Westie - I am already using the doggie door. I walk well on a leash and ride very nicely in the car. If you think that you might be that special person for special little me, send in your application. Westie Kisses, Lilly
I have been adopted by Deborah & Rocky and I have 2 new Westie brothers, Mack & Zipper. They say I am the perfect addition to their family. Dad is wild about me!!! What's not to love about a doll like me?? XOXO Lacey
Lacey's Original Story: My family couldn't care for me anymore because too many things were going on in their lives, so a nice lady in Camarillo suggested they contact WROC. I am now in foster care with and living the good life now since I have other Westies to play with, lots of toys to entertain me and I am eating some great food that is making me feel very good. I am a small female, approximately 12 pounds and I am as cute as cute can be! I have all my shots and will soon be spayed. I want a permanent home to call my own, as moving around is hard on us Westies. Is that home with you? Love, Lacey
My new name is Maisie - it means child of light and I am certainly surrounded by lots of love & light. I was adopted by Mom Kati, Dad Jon and the triplets, Thomas, Bonnie & Claire. I am the luckiest Westie ever! Thank you WROC - I have a wonderful new life. Westie hugs & kisses, Maisie
Tess' Original Story: Hi there, I am one cute little Westie girl and my new name is Bella Tessa, but you can call me Tess. The dog catcher found me wandering the streets, filthy dirty, and covered with fleas. But my angel Amy rescued me - she took me home bathed me, got rid of those fleas, and cut out all of the knots in my fur. It made me feel so much better. I love to be petted and I get along great with all the other resident Westies. Since I am so new to WROC, give them a little time to find out all about me. I am spayed, have all my shots and am microchipped. I am a knockout. It is one lucky family that gets me!! XOXO Bella Tessa
I have a new name, McDuff & I think it's great. I was adopted by Jan & Tom and I am in heaven. They are the most wonderful new family for me - we go on so many walks and I get to play with so many new friends. I am one lucky Westie. Thank you WROC for everything. XOXO McDuff
DUNCAN'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi, my name in Duncan. I was rescued by the the nicest volunteer - she jumped through hoops and drove for miles to take me home. My foster Mom says that I am sooooo great! I am very friendly, full of energy, good on a leash, good with other dogs, quiet, loving and gentle. I know how to use the dog door and my house training is doing very well. She says that once again, WROC has found another sweet and lovable Westie that will make a family very happy. I am very affectionate and will follow you around everywhere! I am freshly neutered, have all my shots and am microchipped. If you would like a great dog like me, hurry & send you application. I will be waiting. Westie love, Duncan
I was adopted by Judy & Chuck and they are the most wonderful parents. Funny thing about karma, I am back in San Diego and the happiest little Westie that could ever be. Thank you WROC for finding me this fabulous home. Happily and eternally grateful, Lizzie
LIZZIE'S ORIGINAL STORY: My new name is Lizzie. I was wandering the streets of San Diego when the dogcatcher picked me up. I waited hopefully for my owner, but no one came. WROC was keeping an eye on me because several people were interested in me, but when no one showed up, they hopped in the car and came for me. Hey, turns out I really like the OC!
I am 1-2 years old, spayed, microchipped and I have all my shots. I have a happy go lucky personality and am house and crate trained. I love to walk in the park and I enjoy my new Westie friends, although I do like to be the boss. (I am a Westie Princess after all!) I love cuddling so much and love to give kisses but if for reason, you need the couch all to yourself (not sure why that would happen but just in case...), I will nap in a bed on the floor or in a crate. I have a trick or two...the best is when I fly through the air to sit on your lap!!! I have a gorgeous coat - am I beautiful or what? Hugs and lots of wet westie kisses, Lizzie
Hi there from Ricky. I was adopted by Jeremy, Kurt, and my new sister Evita. They are the best family ever. I sit with Evita in a chair in Dad's office, butts touching, waiting for the fun to start. We go on walks, play, and have a great time. My new family thinks that I am perfect and the feeling is very mutual. Thank you so much - I am a very happy Westie. Love & Kisses Ricky
Note from WROC: Jeremy & Kurt are great supporters of WROC. We thank them for their time and committment to our rescue.
RICKY'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi everyone, my new name is Ricky. I was lost in a really nice neighborhood when the dog catcher picked me up. I even had a microchip so the shelter tried to find my owner, but sadly, the telephone number was disconnected. WROC showed up bright & early on my adoption day and took me to my new foster home where they fed me, bathed me, and gave me new toys. I am so happy now - I just love chasing tennis balls and squeaky toys.
I am a 3-4 years old, 22 pound neutered male. I am microchipped and have all my shots. I have a sunny and happy disposition. I ride well in the car, love to go on walks, and get along with all the other Westies here. While I was wandering, I got fleas and bit the fur off my back around my tail, then the shelter shaved me, but now I am getting medicated baths and already look and feel 100% better. I am beautiful dog with a beautiful personality! I am looking for that special family. If you think you will love me always, send in your application. Westie Kisses, Ricky
Dear WROC, I find my new parents to be loving, gentle and malleable. They are trainable within reasonable boundaries. For example, my diet issue has been sorted out to everyone's satisfaction. I eat what Mommy Pat wants me to eat, and she presents my food the way I want it presented. My Dad is so cute. He may seem serious, but he can be enticed to play simply by poking him with a stuffed frog. I get big smiles and play time when I do that. Mommy Pat tells her friends at the lake that I am enchanting, and My Dad says I am very special. It is gratifying to have one's qualities recognized. At first I did not understand why you wanted me to leave you and go with Mommy Pat and My Dad, but now I understand. They would be lost without me. Mommy Pat says people we love live in our hearts forever. I am holding you in my heart forever. Love always, Your Hannah
HANNAH'S PREVIOUS STORY: Hi there, my name is Hannah and I am 11 years old, but my foster Mom says if she did not know better, you would say I was 5 years young! I was very sad because my owners did not want me anymore. Their lives changed with kids and they banished me to the back yard and garage. It was cold and lonely for me until they called WROC. Now things have really changed for me and I am one very happy girl. I am an indoor princess and I love every minute of my new life. I am healthy, sweet and very playful. I love long walks with the other Westies (I lead the pack), snuggling on the couch, and I sleep in my crate at night (but have been known to sneak up on the big bed). I am current on all my shots and would love a happily ever after home. Do you have a special place in your heart for a sweetheart like me? Lots of Westie Love, Hannah
Note from Nick's parents, Barbara & Alan: Today marks our one year anniversary of Wiley's adoption. Our family cannot thank you enough for placing "Nick" with us. We know how special he was to you, and entrusting him with us was very meaningful. I only wonder, did you know how central he would become to our world ? Our lives revolve around this great little white guy! It seems almost a sign from above that we connected at the moment that we did. The timing was perfect, as is he! You amaze me and we love you for all that you do for the Westie world, but especially for your gift of love.
NICK'S ORIGINAL STORY: The volunteers at WROC said I am a Christmas miracle because even though my Westie spirit was wounded, it is not broken. WROC rescued me from a shelter when they heard I was mauled by a very big dog. I sustained severe puncture wounds to my legs, back and neck and am in very bad shape. My ears were crusted shut from pure neglect and they don't think I ever got a bath in my estimated 2 years of life. As you can imagine, I have a long road ahead of me. When the shelter staff put me in the arms of WROC, my personal rescuer told me that today is the first day of my wonderful new life. I believe her and I am now getting the medical attention that I so desperately need. But most of all, I am safe with my own warm bed, and I am getting lots of rest, love and attention that I've been so starved for. But what I want most of all is a home to call my own and a family that will love me for the rest of my life. I promise to love you right back. Westie Wishes, Nick
NOTE FROM WROC: It is nothing short of a miracle that Nick is still alive. After everything he has been through, he amazes us with his sweet demeanor. He is in need of constant care and never complains with the multiple bandage changes daily. Nick will remain in foster care until he has fully recovered. His medical care will be very costly, so please, if you can, donate to WROC for Saint Nicolas, the Miracle Christmas Dog. No amount is too small and every dollar will go to his care. Thanks for reading Nick's story.
I have been adopted by Nadine & Ron. I brought tears to my new Mom's eyes because she was so happy to adopt me. They drove all the way from Fresno just to pick me up. They are so special and I have the best new life ever. XOXO Rocco
WALKER'S ORIGINAL STORY: My foster Mom named me Walker after those wonderful shortbread cookies. She says that I am just that sweet and smart too! I am a small 13 pound Westie male, approximately 3-4 years old. I am just neutered, microchipped and have all my shots. I am a very good natured, calm boy who loves to snuggle and does not bark too much. I ride well in the car, walk pretty well on a leash, and I know how to use the doggie door. As a matter of fact, I do like to steal items, like socks and shoes and take them right out that door into the backyard - it is fun to see my foster Mom picking them up, just for me to take out again!! She says I am a little clown. I am waiting for my forever family. Please send your application if you would like a cute little boy like me. XOXO Walker
Note from WROC: Owen has been placed with Olympic Animal Sanctuary in Forks, Washington. Sadly, Owen is a biter which prevented us from placing him with an adoptive family. Because we support the "no kill" philosophy, Owen remained in foster care until another resource was found.
Olympic Animal Sanctuary, founded by Steve Markwell, is an animal welfare and rescue organization. The bulk of their resources go to the care and rehabilitation of non-adoptable dogs: fighting dogs, street dogs, feral dogs, wolf/coyote hybrids, and dogs that have killed animals or bitten people. At Olympic Animal Sanctuary, they never have to live in fear again. We have a tremendous amount of gratitude for Olympic Animal Sanctuary. They work tirelessly for all the animals in their care. Thank you Steve!
.
Hi there, I was adopted by Michelle, Ashley & Brett. They treat me like a very special member of their great family. They say that I have changed their lives - they take me on many walks and we really enjoy the outdoor life. I am such a happy boy now that I have my forever home. Thank you WROC. XOXO Lincoln
LINCOLN'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hello all, my name is Lincoln. My owners did not have time for me and they were going to turn me in to a shelter, but I was very lucky, WROC stepped in
and rescued me. I needed an extreme haircut
because I had not been very well taken care of, but I am doing much better now. I have a great attitude and am an absolutely wonderful 6-7 year old Westie. I am very calm and loving, I ride great in the car, walk very nicely on a leash, get along with every dog and person that I meet, and the groomer thought I was a dream. I have all my shots and am waiting for the right family that will love me. Please send in your application if you will love me forever. I will be the most perfect dog for that perfect family. Patiently waiting, Linc
SHANE'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hello everyone, my name is Shane and I will be 2 years old in April 2009. My owner had such a busy schedule that he just did not have time for me, so lucky for me, he called WROC. I am a very active boy, still in my puppyhood. I love to run, jump, hike and play. I have really good house manners and I have been to dog obedience training. My perfect family will enjoy exercise, being outdoors, and playing with me, of course. I have all my shots and am microchipped. I am waiting here for you - send in your application. XOXO Shane
Note from WROC: Shane is an adorable dog with lots of energy. He loves to be held and cuddles. We recommend continuing dog obedience lessons and a strong pack leader
I was adopted by Ellen & Scarlett, my new Westie sister. I am having a great time with my new family. Mom calls me her own little rascal since I am so much fun to be around. She is wild about me and I am very gentle with Scarlett when I am not tearing around the house. Thank you WROC fo my second chance and my wonderful new life. Westie Kisses, Kirby
KIRBY'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi there, my new name is Kirby. I was lost and wandering the streets when dog catcher snagged me. I waited in the shelter for my owner, but no one came. Two different people placed an adoption hold on me at the shelter, but both decided not to take me. I was so sad and not feeling very well. Thank goodness WROC was waiting in the wings to scoop me up and take me home. I am an absolutely stunning 1 1/2 year old, 17 pound neutered male Westie - Mr. Pet gave me a fabulous makeover. I love to walk in the park and I give the greatest kisses. I ride well in the car and will sit in your lap for as long as you will let me. I have all my shots and am microchipped. Are you my forever home? I am happily waiting for you. XOXO Kirby
I have the best new family, Mom Misty & Dad Dana. They carefully prepared their house and yard for my arrival - I am their new baby! I have lots to learn, but I am a very smart Westie girl. Thank you WROC for finding the perfect home for me. XOXO Roxie
ROXANNE'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi there, my name is Roxanne, but my friends call me Roxie. I am an absolutely adorable 3 month old baby female Westie. My senior owner quickly realized that a puppy was too much for him, so lucky for me, he called Westie Rescue of OC & Beyond. Now I am in puppy kindergarten, learning all kinds of new tricks. I am working on just about everything, but my foster Mom says I am so cute and smart that she will overlook most of my deeds! I am not spayed yet. I am pretty good on a leash and love to play. You will be lucky to get a little doll like me!!!
Hello again, it's me Cody with my wonderful new family, Dad Jim, Mom Lisa, and Sister Hailey. I heard Dad tell WROC, that I was the best thing that ever happened to them - better than they could have ever expected! Yippee - I am one happy Westie. Thank you WROC
CODY'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi there, my new name is Cody. I was picked up by the dog catcher and the shelter called my owner, but they did not want me. I was very sad and had to spend Christmas in a cold outdoor concrete cage. But WROC showed up bright and early the next day to take me home. Life is good again - I even got to open Christmas presents and I just love those soft squeaky toys! I am an adorable fun-loving 1-2 year old, 15 pound neutered male. I am very active and love to play with people, toys, and other dogs. I have all my shots and am microchipped. Are you the family for me? I am waiting for you in 2009! XOXO Cody

I was adopted by Nancy and Westie brother Duffy. Everyone who meets me tells us how gorgeous and wonderful I am. The real truth is that I have a beautiful new family that loves me unconditionally and that is the best thing in the world!!! XOXO Haggis
FRAZIER'S ORIGINAL STORY:
My name is Frazier and these great folks at WROC took me in because my owner was relocated and couldn't take me with them. I am a gorgeous 25 pound 3 1/2 year old neutured male. I am a very sweet boy, like to play with toys, crate trained, potty trained, and am learning to walk on a leash. I really want to be home again. Is that at your place? Get that application in soon, because something tells me that I am too good to pass up!
My new name is Cannoli and I was adopted by Denise and Art - they are Italian, don't you know? They are absolutely crazy about me and I really adore them. Thank you WROC for this wonderful family. XOXO Sweet Cannoli
WINSTON'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi everyone, my name is Winston. I must admit that I am incredibly handsome. I am a 2.5 - 3 years old male looking for my perfect family. My previous owner did not have time for me which makes me very sad because I am a calm gentleman, but know how to have fun when appropriate! Squeaker toys are very interesting, but my all time favorite is a rubber Kong with peanut butter stuffed to the fullest! I love walks, the dog park, including my foster brothers and resident Westies, though my favorite time of day or night is sitting on my person's lap. I am the best of all Westie worlds, looking for attention, commitment and love. Will you be my new person? XOXO Winston

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my
warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage,
lest I forget.
There's so much to carry,
so much to regret.
Yes, there it is,
right on the top,
Let's unpack loneliness, heartache and loss.
And there by my feeder
hides fear and shame.
As I look on these things
I tried hard to leave,
I still have to unpack my baggage called pain.
I loved them, the others,
the one's who left me,
But I wasn't good enough,
for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage,
or help me unpack?
Will you look at my things
and take me right back?
Do you have the time
to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
to never repack?
I pray that you do,
I'm so tired you see,
but I do come with baggage,
will you still want me?
