WROC’s Forever Fosters

At WROC, our Forever Fosters program provides hospice care and love for senior dogs with life-threatening conditions or those typically 15 or older with little chance of being adopted, or those who can’t be adopted due to medical needs or terminal illness. Your sponsorship funds their food and care, sustaining our mission to protect unadoptable Westies. We’re driven by kindness, not accolades, ensuring all dogs feel loved. With rising pet abandonment, we need foster homes and sponsors to care for every Westie in need.

Your one time or monthly donation will help us take care of our seniors and medically challenged dogs. If you care, please share!

Petunia

Petunia, 9 years old…This sweet little lady was relinquished to a shelter because she was sick.  She was in tremendous pain and would not eat, drink.

  • Our vet was unable to examine her mouth, and her blood work was not good. To our surprise, Petunia had at least 100 foxtails imbedded in her mouth. All were removed as well as 30 teeth.  This little lady is a survivor and we are so thankful she is with WROC. Petunia is now a WROC Forever Foster & will be staying with Diana. She will be well cared for by WROC for the rest of her life. She is happy and thankful for her forever home.

Maggie

Maggie, 13 years old…This sweet lady lost her human and her home.  She was living in an assisted living facility, her health was deteriorating,

  • No one stepped in, so the family contacted us.  Maggie is 12 years old, underweight at 14 pounds, and we are treating for her yeast, fungal and bacterial infections.  Her ears are infected as well and she has a 4/6 heart murmur.  Maggie is now a forever foster and is living with Wendy. Wendy’s affection and dedication to seniors and special needs Westies are a blessing and a true reflection of her exceptional character. Wendy's devotion to WROC’s Maverick, Claus, and Peetz & her commitment to their care made this an easy decision to send Maggie home with Wendy.

Herbert

Herbert, 17 years old…Our Forever Foster program brought 12-year-old Herbert to WROC. Herbert was in rescue in another state for 1.5 years.

  • There was no interest, most likely because of his advanced age and multiple health issues. Herbert lost 80% of his eyesight due to untreated infections, has chronic skin problems, hip, knees, and back issues. We felt it was in Herbert’s best interest to bring him to WROC where he would get everything he needs to live out his life comfortably. So we reached out to the rescue and they agreed that Herbert needed his own home. We flew to Texas and picked him up!

Tinkerbelle

Tinkerbelle, 9 years old…What a difference 9 months can make. Tink had her follow up appointment with the dermatologist specialist.

  • Though she looks beautiful, we are still battling yeast. We will continue with her medicated baths 3-4 times a week, special diet, change up her medications and retest in a month.

Tink will need lifelong skin maintenance, as she can go backwards fast if we don’t stay on top of it. She has come a long way and will be staying with WROC as a Forever Foster.

Jack Beanstalk

Jack, 15 years old…Jack’s only requirement is a lap to snuggle on. He loves gentle face massages and sweet kisses and LOVES to be groomed.

  • He is in great health and has so much love to give. He is blind, yet moves around great with a spring in his step. He was found wandering the busy streets of LA all alone. His mouth was riddled with foxtails so most of his teeth were extracted. Jack is the sweetest, most gentle little man ever. He has excellent hearing & his sense of smell is even better. He loves going for walks & stops to smell the flowers. For all of these reasons, WROC welcomes Jack as a Forever Foster.

Ruby

Ruby, 17.5 years old,,,Ruby’s coat is shinier, her frame is filling out, and there’s a spark in her expression that wasn’t there before. Ruby’s energy tells an even better story.

  • This little lady, once barely able to muster a shuffle, now trots through the house like she owns the place. She’s will run full on sprints, darting around corners with the agility of a pup half her age. She’ll skid to a stop, pivot on a dime, and take off again, tail wagging like a metronome set to high speed. Every day she’s a little brighter, a little bolder, and a whole lot happier & that’s more than enough for us. Ruby will be a Forever Foster with WROC.

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord for a home to keep
If a family is found before I wake
I hope they see I am a keepsake
My bones may ache and my ears don’t hear
But I’m not scared, I have no fear
Angels watch me through the night
And wake me with the morning light
As I wait for a new home to be found
I am loved, cared for, safe and sound
